carried it to the two Jard line. Soon after Myers crashe into the ond zone on a quarterback sneak with what proved to be the winning TD. The extra point failed.
Coach Lee labored many night hours as he prepared the Bishops for one of their greatest tasks of the season, t hat of stopping former all stater Mike Granado. These hours paid off in the long run as the entire Bishops defense swamped Granado and held him to meager yardage.
V. E. S. BOWS TO NORFOLK ACADEMY
The Bishops, after two impressive victories, met their match at Norfolk .:Jnd suffered their fi rst defeat, 19-0. It took, however, more than just the scrappy Norfolk team. The game was started in very bad weather condi- tions with the eye of hurricane Isabell watching all the plays. The Bishops found the football hord to hold as they ran only six offensive plays in the first half. On one series, Nor- folk controlled the ball for thirty-five consecutive plays. The V. E. S. de- fense would be spectular for prac- tically two out of every three plays. Then on the third play, Norfolk would complete a long pass that would al- ways break the Bishops' back.
Despite all the bod luck, V. E. S. was behind only 7-0 at halftime and still hopeful of victory. They started off the second half good and ap- peared to be on the comeback trail. Then came one of those long and seemingly impossible Norfolk passes! With this kind of luck running against them the whole day, the Bishops never reclly threatened and thus re- ceived their first setback.
CHRISTCHURCH
UPSETS V. E. S.
The Bishop eleven was upset 7-0 when it traveled to Christchurch's annual homecoming. Christchurch scored early in the first quarter and hold tho lead throughout the game. Even though fullback Bobby Watts led the visiting team inside the Christchurch 20 yurd line three times, the Bishops, plagued with incomplete passes and penalties, could not score. After the first quarter, the V. E. S. team dominated the ball game, but could not seem to get the
seven vital points.

BISHOPS BATTLE COUGARS TO A 20-20 TIE IN HOMECOMING
ACTION
The Virginia Episcopal School eleven broke a two game losing streak by tying the heavily favored Collegiate squad 20-20. An esti- mated crowd of more than a thous- and waiched the fighting Bishops strike early and hold the lead throughout most of the game.
Fullback Bobby Watts was the most outstanding player in the Home- coming game. After rushing for over
130 yards and setting up two of the three touchdowns, it is little wonder that No. 22 received the Dyrele award for the most valuable player of the day.
Early in the first period, quarter- back Ham Myers led the Bishops to a seven point lead by driving over from the two yard line. Watts threw to Frank Booker for the extra point. Collegiate closed it to 7-6 in the same quarter after a sustained drive. However, the Bishops came back quickly, when Carlyle White inter- cepted a Collegiate pass and rambled 42 yards for the second Bishop score.
Collegiate's fastest man took the second half kick-off and raced ninety yards for the next Cougar score. Their point after touchdcwn was good and suddenly the home team was faced with a new game. How- ever, Myers and Watts led the team 75 yards and in +he closing minutes of the third quarter V. E. S. again took the lead. Myers pushed over From the three and then completed the seven points with a pass to John Hooker.
