b'FOUNDERS DAYOn February 14, 2020 we celebrated Greensboro Day Schools founding with a formal proclamation from Mayor Nancy Vaughan and the City of Greensboro declaring February 14, 2020, Greensboro Day Schools Founders Day. We hosted various activities throughout campus including a school-wide art project, history lesson, trivia, special treats, and a panel of speakers featuring GDS Alumnus, Wayne Robinson 76, former Head of School, Ralph Davison, former teacher, Marilyn Jones and Head of School, Tracie Catlett.The Articles of Incorporation to begin Greensboro Day School were submitted on February 14, 1970 and filed on February 17, 1970 by the attorneys, Thornton Brooks, Allen Foster, and James Williams.The Incorporation listed 14 individuals as the original directors: Lawton Gresham, Alice Isaacson, Jane Eskridge, Robert Lincks, Jim Schenck, Tom Ruffin, Jr., Allen Foster, Jack Warmath, Charles McLendon, Shep Griswold, Sion Boney, Kathleen Bryan Edwards, David Brown, and Thornton Brooks.We are thankful to these individuals for having the vision and the courage to begin Greensboro Day School. Greensboro Day School upper school students planned and implemented this annual leadership conference for area middle school students. 100 Middle School students from nine schools across Guilford County engaged in activities to help implement thoughtful and inspirational programs at their respective schools and helped develop their own leadership skills.Students from Canterbury School, GDS, Hope Academy, High Point Friends School, Jackson Middle, Kernodle Middle, New Garden Friends School, Noble Academy, and Our Lady of Grace School attended the conference.
