b'LegacyTHIRTEEN YEARS WITHMARKHALEH e arrived 13 years ago in the summer of 2006 from his home in California. Mark, his wife, Linda, son, Patrick, and several animals crossed the country to find their new home in North Carolina. Marks early estimation of his tenure was 5-years - that might be enough to make a difference. Well, more than a decade has passed, and Greensboro Day School will be left with his legacy and stability during exciting and challenging years. GDS was already a maturing and successful independent school, and Marks lead has added strength and focus to our campus,the Andreve Teaching Garden, Kathy Davis Student Life our programs, and our policies. The look of campus Elingburg Baseball Field, the Bell Family Middle School,matches the powerful value found in the classrooms. When the Auxiliary Gymnasium, the Keeley Commons, the GroatMark Hale enters a space, he always uses his trained eye Fieldhouse patio, beautiful fencing that surrounds campus,to consider how the space appears to all constituents from prospective families to staff and students.As a twenty-first century learner himself, Mark approaches his work and his surroundings with a keen eye for education. A reader and a thinker, Mark has challenged faculty and staff with todays approach for tomorrows vision. The pedagogical practices that he has brought to GDS include Project-based Learning, Understanding by Design, Design Thinking, Ethical Literacy, Autonomy-Belonging-Competence, Growth Mindset, Critical Friends Groups and Winter Term.
