Today our balance sheet is strong because of this deliberate work.Mark Hale is a person of many talents. He knows that it takes a team to move a school forward, one that is inviting and inclusive. He has persistently required all of us to challenge ourselves to improve, and he has placed focus and funding in areas of professional development throughout the campus employee group, volunteers, and students.His involvement in the larger communities includes local boards (Greensboro Science Center, Weatherspoon Art Museum, NCCJ) and state and national independent school organizations (NCAIS, SAIS, NAIS).And these are only a few areas, places, and people that he has supported during his tenure here.Greensboro Day School has grown and evolved deliberately and positively over Mark Hales thirteen years of impressive leadership. He leaves so much here, so much for us to carry forward.nwith Lets First Ask the Questions that we must answer. Mark has led the successful exercise of rewriting the schools Mission as well as several iterations of strategic planning.He does not fear the process of self-assessment and revision.Mark is not only a fan of diversity - he is a believer that the road to more inclusivity is consistent work and education. Our DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) focus remains an area that is envied by other schools. Of course, technology has adjusted over these thirteen years, and our changes have been vast including infrastructure shifts to equipment improvements. While we were on our laptop journey before he arrived, his leadership brought the iPad Program in the lower school, updated laptop progress, and recently new modules that allowed for a new website, learning management system, and administrative admission components. Some of this technology has added features that increase our safety by full school communications and emergency notifications.M arks early years saw the recession bring economic uncertainty and anxiety to communities around the world.
