10 | Winter 2018 Debby Irving Greensboro Day School was a co-host of Debby Irving’s community pre- sentation of her book, Waking Up White held at First Presbyterian Church. Employees and parents enjoyed gathering with others for her presentation and insightful conversations about race. Several employees also attended a session making valuable connections that they will use in the classrooms and divisions. Pictured with Debby Irving are Kelly Sipe, Kristin Kirkman-Hall ’91, Melissa Lehman, Jenna Gilfillan, and Barry Davis. Family Fun Night proved to be full of FUN, GAMES, FOOD, and MUSIC. Thank you to the many families who attended, to the Bengal Boosters for the outstanding Game Day Grill, and the volunteers who make this event a success! Senior Parking Lot Painting If you’ve driven down Lawndale Drive, you may have noticed something different. The addition of 90+ brightly colored parking spaces. Seniors and their families spent time on a Saturday this fall to paint their personalized parking spaces.   Thank you to Carey Jackson-Adams, Upper School art teacher for bringing this tradition to GDS, to all of the parents, and faculty who offered painting support! 100% of Bitty Bengals and Junior Kindergarten students agree ... the new Early Childhood Playground is amazing!  Students are taking full advantage of the swings, climber, slide, and more!  Studies show the importance of outdoor play and brain development and we are thrilled to have this new playground to enhance learning and play for our youngest Bengals.
