In October, Greensboro Day School announced an early childhood enrichment program for children ages 18 months to 3 years old. Lower School Director, Gillian Goodman says: “Bengal Tots will be available for children ages 18 months up to 3 years old with a parent or caregiver twice a month, taught by Greensboro Day School Lower School specialists.” “We are thrilled to bring age-appropriate activities to nurture young children’s social/emotional and cognitive learning development through programming using language, science, art, and music.” Lorie Jones, Director of Bengal Tots added, “Our hope is that parents and caregivers will take the methods they experience in the classes back into their homes to continue the learning. The Bengal Tots program is designed to stimulate social, language, cognitive, and physical skills, all through interactive play!” n F or 2017-18, the Parents’ Association will host a series of gatherings to create community and build friendships, while supporting the Greensboro Day School Parents’ Association. Funds from these events benefit the Teacher Enrichment Endowment Fund (TEEF) Grants for professional development, and the Allocations Fund to benefit enhancements on campus. Events have already included an Oktoberfest event at the home of Isabelle and Rainhard Kramme, GDS Night at the Swarm, and a holiday cookie exchange at the home of Jenny and David Sar. Upcoming events include a dinner and string quartet at the home of Pam and Dennis Stearns, Tap Hopper tour, afternoon tea, and a Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game. These events are a way to build community and friendships within Greensboro Day School, while supporting the good work of the Parents’ Association. n For the second year, seniors designed and painted their parking spaces. Led by Upper School Art teacher, Carey Jackson-Adams, this day not only builds community and provides collaboration among students, but brings art to an otherwise blank canvas. Parents, siblings, teachers, and friends help out to make this day memorable and fun. Jack Delligatti ’18 is pictured with his mother, Kari Delligatti.
