GDS Magazine | 33 The Blue Team earned $992 for Greensboro Urban Ministry and is sponsored by Southeastern Orthopedics, Murphy Wainer Division. The Yellow Team earned $993 for the Arthritis Foundation, Epilepsy Foundation, and NPR and is sponsored by Greensboro Day School teachers. Bengal Games 2018 In its 21st year, Bengal Games is highly anticipated by students across divisions. When you hear the sound of bullhorns, see Coach Schner’s yellow blazer, and hear chants of “Everybody Plays, Everybody Wins” you know it is time for this long-standing GDS tradition. This cross-divisional afternoon of fun and games is actually a way to give back to area nonprofits. With the help of local sponsors, as points are earned by each team, the sponsors donate $1 per point to 5 area charities. Nearly $5,000 is given to nonprofits each year, through an exciting afternoon. The games consist of trivia competitions, obstacle courses, puzzles, karaoke, and other team-building activities. Our youngest Bengals serve as spirit spies, seeking to find the most spirited teams on campus to reward with points. This year included a one-point victory for the yellow team who some will say has never won a Bengal Games, or at least in recent years. Thank you to the teachers, students, administration, and sponsors for making this event possible! A special thank you to Caroline Garrison ’22 whose design inspiration was used on the 2018 tee shirts.
