GDS Magazine | 43 LOWER SCHOOL CLOSING MIDDLE SCHOOL CLOSING During the Lower School Closing Ceremony on Wednesday, June 6, Mrs. Amanda McLaughlin ’97, lower school technology specialist was honored as the 2018 Carla D. Dowler Award recipient. The Carla D. Dowler award was established to honor someone who touches Lower School students’ lives and fits the following criteria: values kindness and sensitivity to others; reflects a determination to succeed; exemplifies a love for learning; and embodies an abiding respect for teaching and being with children. Mrs. McLaughlin is married to Adam McLaughlin and they are the parents of Ellie ’27 and Walker ’29. She is a proud alumna of Greensboro Day School.
