This project combines math, science, and engineering as the students design, build, test, and then launch their boats. As Mrs. Williams stated, it is a great opportunity for students to learn and grown from mistakes and gives teachers the ability to educate the whole child through this unique project. 5th grade students worked on an integrated art and writing project resulting in life-size images of book characters and descriptions of their stories based on the hazards of passing judgment on others. Congratulations to the Greensboro Day School Student Councils: UPPER SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL 12TH MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL 11TH 10TH 9TH 8TH 7TH 6TH 5TH Six Upper School students hosted an afternoon of sports clinics on Saturday, October 1 for 3rd – 6th grade students as part of a “service through sports” initiative. These clinics featured soccer, field hockey, and volleyball, with nearly 100 children participating. In lieu of an entry fee, children brought a donation of canned goods for BackPack Beginnings. This clinic is part of a service through sports initiative started by senior Pearce Landry with the mission to teach children about sports and teamwork while giving back to the local community. Landry has hosted similar basketball clinics and received positive feedback from the participants and the other varsity athletes who helped coach and wanted to open these clinics up to a larger audience. The Fall Clinic is also led by seniors Will Groce, Zach Shue, Whitney Forbis, Kristen Rosenbower, and Stephanie Keselring, all Greensboro Day School students and varsity athletes.
