After an extensive search process with incredible candidates, it became clear that Keno is a perfect fit for the role and will bring the exact energy, expertise, and insight to help push Echoing Green to the next level. Keno is an Echoing Green Fellow at Large, who started his Echoing Green-backed venture (Breakthrough Atlanta) in 1997. He launched Breakthrough Atlanta to provide a pathway to college for traditionally underserved Atlanta area school students and to provide teacher training experiences for high school and college students. Most recently, Keno has been serving as executive director of the Summerbridge Breakthrough Alumni Network (SBAN), supporting over 3,000 members with a goal of eventually reconnecting with and supporting the over 20,000 alumni of the Summerbridge and Breakthrough programs. Within SBAN, Keno created the Teacher of Color Preparatory Institute (TCPI) to identify, prepare, place and support teachers and administrators of color into schools committed to diversity and inclusivity. Keno is a master facilitator, convener, and expert in leadership development, and he brings to Echoing Green his rich experience as an educator, an entrepreneur, and as a manager. Beyond his professional experience, Keno has a deep understanding of the Echoing Green community and what it takes to launch a social enterprise and build a team to achieve success. He has served as an evaluator, judge, and mentor to Echoing Green Fellows over the years, and many of you may have met him in Johannesburg where he led a session on leadership, diversity, and communication. He helped Echoing Green recruit staff and Fellows over the years, identifying excellent talent, and he participated in the first Fellow at Large inflection cohort with Echoing Green focused on “Going to Scale.” Needless to say, he has been an active supporter and participant in the work for years. Keno will also represent Echoing Green externally for key partnership, fundraising, and other opportunities.
