20 | Summer 2017 Dear GDS Community, Year-end greetings from the Bengal Boosters. The Boosters look forward to a strong 2017-18 academic and athletic year, but first we wanted to recap and share highlights from the 2016-17 year. Greensboro Day School had over 350 students participate on 42 teams on the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity levels. The Bengals captured one NCISAA 3A State Championship as well as four PACIS Conference Championships. The Booster Club finished the 2016-17 year with 205 members. Highlights below show the ways the Bengal Boosters support the athletic department by providing needs beyond what is budgeted: • paid off the balance of our pledge for the Auxiliary Gymnasium • hosted a fall Chick-Fil-A night • hosted a Senior Breakfast or Lunch for fall, winter and spring Sports Awards • purchased a safety net for the Lacrosse Field • purchased shooting shirts for Girls’ Basketball • purchased an iPad for the Athletic Department • purchased cleaning solution for the Wrestling Team • purchased t-shirts for the Swim Team • purchased a tarp for the Baseball Field • purchased two GDS logo tents for the Athletics Department • purchased tennis score towers for the tennis courts • provided snacks for one away game for each varsity team • hosted “Chick-Fil-A-De Mayo” • operated the concession stand for fall and spring home games • drafted a Mission Statement which will be introduced in September 2017 As you can see, with the help of the members of the Booster Club and volunteers, we had a great year and accomplished many things. Next year, the Boosters hope to accomplish more in support of our student-athletes and our Athletic Department. In support of that goal, our hope is that you will renew your membership or if you are not a member, please consider joining this fall. Go Bengals!
