Holland coordinates and manages the day- to-day Resort Welcome Center Front Desk activities of the Homes and Villas rentals of the Lodging Division and resolves problems arising from guests, assigning duties and shifts to Front Desk, Concierge, and Bell Staff employees, observes performances to ensure adherence to Resort and Lodging Division policies and operating procedures, and guides them in continual improvement of guest satisfaction and Resort operational efficiency and profitability. 2013 Elizabeth Tilley has been serving as Student Body Vice President during her senior year at Wheaton College in Chicago where she is majoring in Math and Secondary Education. Jake Deslauriers graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. He has gained admission into the NC State University Genetics PhD program, which will begin in August. The NCSU Program is very prestigious in the field of Genetics. Jake says, “I have been interested in Genetics since high school, but didn’t fully adopt it as my main interest until attending Virginia Tech. My goal has always been to seek the highest education possible in whatever field that interested me, and with admission to NCSU’s Genetics PhD program I feel that I’m finally taking that next step. Eventually, the hope is to run my own laboratory and conduct my own Genetics research, but also to teach at the university level.” 2014 Katherine Sipes is in her junior year at the School of Design at NC State. Alex Kunar released his first EP in March, called Loaded with Love, which is now available on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify. Alex wrote, sang, and played all instruments except drums. This is a prestigious, merit-based fellowship opportunity designed to provide internship support, mentoring and enriching educational opportunities for Vassar juniors who demonstrate a commitment to professional and personal growth, achievement, and success. Reid connected with GDS Alumnus, Dr. Andy Alspaugh ’83 at Duke University and is doing his summer research fellowship in the Alspaugh Infectious Disease Laboratory. His research focuses on the model fungal organism Cyrptococcus noeformans and how genetic mutations effect cell phenotype and protein expression. Along with genetic work, he is using Gallaria mellonella to evaluate the effectiveness of potential drugs in treating organisms infected with Cryptococcus. 2015 Annalise Graves and The New Blue performed at Greensboro Day School on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
